History

MERLIN PETROLEUM was established in 1987 by President and founder, Terri Ignozzi-Little, as a bunker brokerage firm, specializing in meeting the fuel purchasing requirements of ship owners and charterers. Merlin has expanded its activities into trading and has become one of the largest procurers worldwide of all grades of fuels to the various branches  of the United States Military.

 

WE have over 90 years of combined oil industry experience in tracking worldwide bunker prices, supply ports and negotiation with suppliers around the globe to ensure the best possible price, place, time and availability of  products to meet our clients' needs.

Our staff include:

 

Terri Ignozzi-Little, graduated from Fordham University with degrees in Spanish Linguistics, French literature and business concentration. She has also successfully completed the Association of Ship Brokers and Agents Certificate, Course in Principals of Chartering. Terri has been working in the marine fuel industry since 1980 and has gained experience working with suppliers, ship owners, and major oil companies.  Terri possesses over 29 years experience selling bunkers and associated products and services.

Through several partnerships with major domestic and international ship owners, Terri's experience lends to a strong understanding of chartering and operations, which allow us to provide added services and value to our customers.

Terri's focus is running the company, handling all commercial, brokering, trading and all finances for Merlin Petroleum and its investments.

 

Adrian Little has been involved in the oil industry since 1979. His experience covers major oil companies (Exxon) a partnership with a ships agency and the founding of the first independent bunker trader in South Africa. He has a Master's of Business Administration with an International Business concentration.

Adrian has been instrumental in the development of business with the Federal government and  its entities which has resulted in the award of several multi-year, multi-million dollar contracts and the continued financial strength and success of  Merlin. 

 

Maurice Lara started his professional career straight out of high school in 1985, with the family Import-Export business, where he gained experience in a variety of disciplines, including; sourcing, procurement, negotiation, sales, contracts, and a unique concentration in domestic and international logistics. Concurrently, he was studying and earning his degree at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut, where he graduated in 1990, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, and a minor in Philosophy. After graduation, he spent almost 5 years handling the transportation and storage of food, steel, and chemicals worldwide for various companies. In 1995, he was recruited into the metals trading business, where he spent 10 years, starting in logistics and progressing through chartering and ultimately the trading desk. His career in the marine fuel industry began in 2006 with Ocean Connect Marine, Inc., where he learned the business from the bottom up, over 5+ years as a broker, and trader, in the New York office. He subsequently opened an office in Connecticut for GAC Bunker Fuels, Ltd. As the Bunker Manager - Americas, Maurice was responsible for trading and the development of a supplier network and credit lines throughout the region to support GACís global network of 6 offices and 25 traders. Prior to joining Merlin, he was a broker and trader with Glander International, part of the Bunker Holding group, based in Florida. Maurice has broked and traded marine fuels, gas oil, lubricants, and associated products and services. He is fluent in Spanish as a second language. He has gained experience and respect in the industry, working with suppliers, ship owners, charterers, major oil companies, and agents. He values and nurtures these relationships, many of which go back more than ten years and which result in support from all corners.
